Project Title: A Water Sensor Development for Water Resources Management Using Advanced Technologies and Artificial Intelligence
Description:
Iraq’s water resources are increasingly affected by climate change, reduced transboundary river inflows, irregular hydrological events, and limited real-time monitoring infrastructure. These challenges make water allocation difficult, especially when decisions depend on fragmented data and delayed field measurements. This project proposes an artificial intelligence-assisted water resources management framework based on smart sensor networks, 26 GHz radar level sensors, and centralized data archiving. The system is designed around three main monitoring stations distributed along the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers and their connected lakes, with a central processing and archiving unit located in Rais Al-Bisha/Qurna. Real-time data on water level, quality, and regional demand are collected, transmitted, processed, and used to support adaptive water distribution decisions. A random sub-station verification mechanism is included to compare AI-generated decisions with live field readings before implementation. The expected outcome is a more reliable, responsive, and scalable decision-support system for improving water distribution, reducing losses, and supporting sustainable water management in Iraq.

Project Title: Building Management System based on Artificial Intelligent
Description:
This paper presents the design and implementation aspects of Building Management System (BMS) for the optimized control of air conditioning, standby generators, and water pumping systems. The system utilizes a hybridized centralized-distributed control topology via an Ethernet network and Modbus RTU, where dual Delta DVP-12SE Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) are used. Real-time electrical telemetry from grid and generator lines is sampled post-ATS using a digital smart power meter and transmitted to the HMI via Modbus RTU link. Serving as the central Master node, the HMI executes Demand Side Management (DSM) strategies, including dynamic Time-of-Use (ToU).scheduling, active peak-clipping, and pump speed control. Simultaneously, PLC1 provides source-state feedback and manages generator automation, while PLC2 actuate magnetic contactors for sequential starting and selective AC load-shedding. Experimental results confirm the ability of system to response to different operation conditions to guarantee the optimum load management

Project Title: CANGuard: An Explainable Machine-Learning Intrusion Detection System for In-Vehicle CAN Bus Networks
Description:
Abstract
Modern vehicles rely on the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus for real-time communication between their electronic control units. However, the CAN protocol was designed without authentication or encryption, leaving it exposed to cyber-attacks that can compromise vehicle safety. This project presents CANGuard, an intelligent intrusion detection system that classifies in-vehicle CAN traffic as either normal or as one of three attack types: Denial-of-Service (DoS), Fuzzy, and Impersonation. Instead of depending on heavy deep networks or on raw message timestamps, CANGuard extracts lightweight behavioral features from a sliding window of CAN messages and classifies them using a Gradient Boosting model. The system runs fully offline on standard Windows hardware, responds in about 4.3 milliseconds per decision, and explains every alarm in human-readable terms. Evaluated on unseen test data using a strict temporal split, CANGuard achieved 100% overall accuracy and a macro F1-score of 1.000. The results demonstrate an accurate, fast, and explainable solution suitable for real-world automotive deployment.

Project Title: Development of a LoRa-Based Tactical Unmanned Ground Vehicle with Biometric and Environmental Telemetry for GPS-Denied Disaster Environments
Description:
Rapid situational assessment is critical during disaster response operations, particularly in enclosed environments where structural instability, toxic gases, dense smoke, and communication failures place rescue personnel at significant risk. Conventional robotic systems typically rely on Wi-Fi or cellular networks, limiting their effectiveness in infrastructure-denied environments. This study presents the design and implementation of a LoRa-based Tactical Unmanned Ground Vehicle (TUGV) capable of operating independently of Internet and GPS services in hazardous disaster scenarios. The proposed platform integrates dual ESP-based embedded controllers with a long-range LoRa communication system to establish a reliable wireless link of up to 2 km. In addition to remote navigation, the vehicle continuously transmits environmental measurements and victims' biometric information, including heart rate and blood oxygen saturation, to a portable control station in real time. To enhance operational safety, the system incorporates fail-safe algorithms, obstacle avoidance, and encrypted local communication to ensure reliable operation during mission-critical situations. Experimental evaluation demonstrates stable wireless connectivity, low-latency command transmission, real-time sensor monitoring, and reliable vehicle control under simulated disaster conditions. The proposed system provides a cost-effective and practical solution for supporting rescue teams in GPS-denied and communication-disrupted environments while reducing the exposure of first responders to hazardous conditions.
